The Kansas City Chiefs are a team to watch in the trade market for wide receiver help this season, as they came into the year with a need at the position, then lost Tyquan Thornton for the season, and have a banged-up Rashee Rice missing some time.

So, when the Chiefs look to free agency and the trade market for potential wide receiver additions, even after adding Justin Watson as some familiar depth, Tyreek Hill is someone linked to Kansas City often this season.

However, the Chiefs recently got a bad update on the potential of adding Hill from  NFL insider Jonathan Jones of The Athletic. Jones revealed that, as of Week 6, the Chiefs are not in any rush to add Hill.

Chiefs in no rush to add Tyreek Hill amid WR need

“The Tyreek Hill-Chiefs reunion is not imminent. As it stands now, I don’t get the sense the Chiefs are in a rush to sign Tyreek Hill,” Jones writes.

While Hill returning to the Chiefs would make a ton of sense on paper, this report from Jones reveals that such a reunion isn’t a lock, nor is it something in the works right now.

Even with Rice missing Week 6 and Thornton done for the regular season, the Chiefs aren’t in a rush to add Hill to the NFL roster.

Xavier Worthy, Jalen Royals, Cyrus Allen, and a few others will factor into the passing game going forward.

Kansas City might be leaning heavily on Kenneth Walker III and Travis Kelce until Rice is back. Hill, on the other hand, will remain a free agent in the meantime while the Chiefs try to figure things out without him.

Hill could still return to the Chiefs. Jones isn’t ruling that out. But it appears that such a reunion isn’t close to happening.

But if the Chiefs add a wide receiver by the November 10 trade deadline, Jones believes it would be a “negative development” for a potential reunion between the Chiefs and Hill.

For now, Hill won’t be coming back to the Chiefs. It’s worth keeping tabs on any rumors about a reunion, but Chiefs fans should expect to see this supporting cast as the group Patrick Mahomes has to work with for a little while.
