Two-time Formula 1 champion Fernando Alonso pulled up to the historic Monza circuit ahead of the Italian Grand Prix weekend in a rare Aston Martin Valhalla, valued at approximately $1million (£745,000).
The British marque revealed the Valhalla, its first-ever mid-engined plug-in hybrid supercar, back in December 2024. The supercar, which was developed using F1 technology, benefits from a bespoke 4.0-litre twin-turbo flat-plane crank V8 engine and eight-speed dual-clutch transmission and boasts 1064 bhp and 810 lb ft of torque.
Alonso was involved with the global debut of the Valhalla in May 2025. The Spanish driver took the supercar around the iconic Monaco Grand Prix street circuit ahead of the first practice session during the F1 race weekend.
“Having followed this project closely for the past 18 months and working alongside the development team, unveiling Valhalla’s dynamic capability to the world at the Monaco Grand Prix weekend is a fantastic moment for both myself and the brand,” the two-time F1 champion explained at the time.
“Taking Aston Martin’s unmatched luxury credentials and added cutting-edge F1-inspired technology and class-leading performance, I can confirm Valhalla is a true supercar both on road and on track. Outside of the outright power and dynamics, it delivers on all of the raw feelings and emotions you look for when behind the wheel of a car like Valhalla.”
Adrian Hallmark, Aston Martin CEO, said in December 2024: “Four years ago we set out on a journey to transform the Aston Martin brand by taking its historic and unmatched luxury credentials and adding cutting-edge, F1-inspired technology and class-leading performance, with the aim of taking on the most successful brands in the world.
“With the next generation of sports cars launched to critical acclaim, we are now adding the first-ever mid-engine series production Aston Martin to our portfolio: the ultimate drivers supercar. On paper and on track Valhalla delivers the most driver-focused, technologically-advanced supercar, with true hypercar performance and yet on the road it is as useable and enjoyable as any Aston Martin. A unique proposition, designed to be the most elegant and exciting product in the market.
“We learned to think differently from developing the ultimate hypercar, Aston Martin Valkyrie and working with Adrian Newey. This knowledge and new methodology have allowed us to build on the strengths of our past successes and position Aston Martin as a class-leading company in technology, performance and experience for our customers who will be the custodians of this new piece of Aston Martin history, Valhalla.”
This comes as Alonso sits 12th in the 2025 drivers’ standings with 30 points, behind his Aston Martin team-mate Lance Stroll in 11th with 32 points. The Silverstone-based outfit is sixth in the constructors’ championship.
