As Week 9 winds down, the NFL is giving fans lots to talk about when it comes to the week’s action. The playoff race is starting to take shape, and teams are feeling the pressure to keep winning, improve their position, or hold on to their spot among the league’s best.

Week 9 gave NFL analysts and fans alike lots of material to discuss. From surprising results to important team developments, the weekend’s matchups revealed more about where things stand as the season moves forward.

For the Cleveland Browns, it was a thriller of a game, but they lost to the New Orleans Saints 23-22 on the road. After the game, head coach Tom Monken had a lot to say about quarterback Shedeur Sanders, who started with Deshaun Watson out in concussion protocol.

Browns head coach Tom Monken praises Shedeur Sanders after his performance against the Saints but stops short of committing to more starts this season

“I’m really proud of him,” Monken said after the game, according to video shared by ESPN’s Daniel Oyefusi. “How hard he’s worked since I’ve been here. He wasn’t perfect. I wasn’t perfect. But for a guy that really hasn’t taken snaps with the ones (other starters) in 10 weeks … to come in there and continue to battle – really, really proud of him.”

While Monken made it clear that he was proud of Sanders and how he played, he certainly didn’t commit to more starts this season. He pretty much rejected the question.

“I’m not even– How long has it been, 30 minutes since the game ended?” he said after getting asked about additional starts for Sanders. “I’m not getting into quarterback. If we want to talk about Shedeur, we can talk about Shedeur.”
