One of the many teams linked to running back help at the NFL trade deadline is the Denver Broncos. They’ve been strongly associated with Jonathan Taylor, a player who would cost the Broncos close to a first-round pick in draft compensation to land.
As the Broncos’ link to RB help continues with the deadline around the corner, the one player most likely to be impacted by such a trade would be J.K. Dobbins, and not just because his role would diminish.
Dobbins was rumored to be available for trade if the Broncos got someone like Taylor. However, Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer is reporting that, thanks to the injury to RJ Harvey, a Dobbins trade is now not likely to happen, even if they add a RB in a deal.
Broncos not likely to trade J.K. Dobbins after RJ Harvey news
“J.K. Dobbin’s name was raised in some trade talks, as Broncos rookie RB Jonah Coleman broke out, but it’s less likely now that RJ Harvey is hurt,” Breer writes.
Denver was eyeing up running back help even while knowing Coleman, Harvey and Dobbins were all healthy. A blockbuster move for Taylor or a quality move for someone like Tony Pollard was on the table.
Such a trade is still in play for Denver, but now the fallout would look a lot different. With Harvey on IR and out for the next couple of weeks, the Broncos would not likely want to trade Dobbins if they made a trade for a running back.

Even if the Broncos traded for Taylor, Dobbins and Coleman would factor into the backfield as backup options until Harvey eventually comes back.
While having four quality running backs on the roster might be redundant, it appears likely that Dobbins won’t be moved, even if the Broncos find an upgrade to the RB room.
The Broncos are a team to keep an eye on in the trade market, but instead of Dobbins being involved in a potential trade, it seems the veteran RB is going to stick in Denver with Harvey sitting on IR.
