The NFL’s trade deadline is coming up soon. In just a matter of days, teams will have to make their final decisions about what trades to make, which makes this an exciting time in the season. The official NFL trade deadline is 4 p.m. ET on Nov. 10.

On Thursday, ESPN’s Bill Barnwell released a tally of trade ideas that could happen. He specifically highlights teams that are real contenders to go all the way and could be helped with some smart trades.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are absolutely contenders this season. Head coach Mike McCarthy and quarterback Aaron Rodgers are keeping this team at No. 1 in the AFC North. The Steelers also have a 6-2 record ahead of Week 9.

Pittsburgh Steelers may be content to sit and trust their current lineup

In the feature, Barnwell has an interesting nugget about the Steelers. While they’re contenders, he doesn’t see them making a big trade. In a sense, their biggest decision is essentially standing pat rather than making a major trade-deadline move. At least, that’s how he sees it. In other words, Pittsburgh appears content to trust its current roster rather than pursue a significant upgrade.

“The Steelers are already fully formed, for better or worse,” he says. While he says a trade could still go down, he just doesn’t see it happening.

“You could make the case that the Steelers should consider adding a defensive back for depth purposes, but most of the places where Pittsburgh would want to upgrade are already occupied by veterans who aren’t going to be moving out of the lineup, such as Rodgers, Metcalf and Jalen Ramsey,” he says. “The guys who are going to get the Steelers out of the wild-card round, if they exist, are already on the roster.”

So, the guys the Steelers need, thankfully, may already be in Pittsburgh.
