The Detroit Lions had a heartbreaking event happen over the weekend when linebacker Jack Campbell was injured on the field and rushed to an area hospital. He’s still getting care, and it’s obvious that he won’t be able to play for the team anytime soon.

That puts the Lions in a tricky situation. If they want to make a playoff push, and they do, they may need to beef up their defense.

The NFL trade deadline is fast coming up on Nov. 10, and now is the time that teams are making big decisions about what to do. Now, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler and Dan Graziano have released a feature with some of the latest talk around the NFL ahead of the trade deadline.

For the Lions, they note that the team may trade to try to replace Campbell, with the player being injured.

Detroit Lions could look for linebacker help after Jack Campbell injury

In the piece, Graziano says that the “NFC North will be interesting to follow.”

It’s not just the Lions. The Chicago Bears made a big trade for Jeffery Simmons, but “they’re still poking around on potentially available cornerbacks, as are the Lions.”

He adds, “Detroit might also be in the market for help at linebacker, particularly in the wake of the terrible injury to mainstay Jack Campbell.”

So, while the Lions and general manager Brad Holmes usually aren’t the kind of franchise to make a big move before the November trade deadline, this year may be different. It’s a situation worth watching.
