The Indianapolis Colts have begun to ship off key pieces from their NFL roster already, well ahead of the 2026 NFL trade deadline.
Quenton Nelson and DeForest Buckner are gone, and players like Grover Stewart, Josh Downs, and even Jonathan Taylor might not be far behind them. However, not all of their players are getting dealt this season.
Mike Garafolo of NFL Network is reporting the Colts have agreed to a $35 million extension with breakout defensive tackle Adetomiwa Adebawore, which will officially take the 25-year-old DT off the trade block this season.
Colts to sign Adetomiwa Adebawore to $35M extension to finally shut down trade rumors
“The Colts and DL Adetomiwa Adebawore have agreed to terms on a two-year, $35 million extension that includes a $13 million signing bonus and $22.5 million in new money through 2027,” Garafolo reports.
This is a significant contract for the Colts to agree to with their young defensive tackle. What is very clear now with this report is that the Colts are not going to be trading Adebawore this season.
Reports previously indicated as such earlier this season, but this extension report for Adebawore all but confirms that the Colts will be keeping him around as a key piece to the team for the next year or so.

He’s in the final year of his rookie contract, and this two-year extension gives the Colts a bit more time with the 25-year-old DT.
From Adebawore’s perspective, he cashed in on his breakout season, with 4.0 sacks and eight QB hits in eight games, and will still get a chance to hit the open market in the not-so-distant future.
For the 2026 NFL trade deadline, this $35 million extension ends any doubt Adebawore could be had in a trade. The Colts want him for their future, and this extension proves that.
