Some games in the NFL are close and considered nail-biters, but this wasn’t one of them. The Pittsburgh Steelers towered over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday in a lopsided 27-6 victory. This was a statement win and makes the Steelers really the kings of the AFC North. It also moves them into the No. 1 spot in the division.
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers had a day. But he wasn’t the only one. Tight end Darnell Washington was absolutely on fire, and these two played together so well that one could call them soulmates on the field.
Pittsburgh Steelers’ Aaron Rodgers and Darnell Washington put on a show
Rodgers and Washington put on a show. The two connected for one of the Steelers’ biggest plays in their win. Early in the third quarter, the two hooked up for a 58-yard catch-and-run that took Pittsburgh all the way to the goal line. Jaylen Warren finished the drive with a touchdown, extending the Steelers’ lead to 27-6.
Washington had a career day, hauling in three catches for 94 yards, according to the Steelers’ official website. Rodgers finished with 172 passing yards on 13-of-25 attempts before giving way to Mason Rudolph once the game was pretty much over.
It was a stunning victory for a team looking to make history. Seeing the Steelers go all the way with Rodgers as quarterback and new head coach Mike McCarthy at the helm would be something simply groundbreaking.
The Steelers are on the road now but will return home on Nov. 27 for a game against the Broncos. Either way, this was a showing that should make them feel good going into their bye week and upcoming games.
