The Valkyries are one game away from a WNBA title. They’ll have to contend with a deluge of partisans — and some of the most unusual circumstances any team has ever been dealt — to finish the job in Game 6.

Golden State moved within one game of glory on Monday, securing a 64-55 win over the Dream off the back of dogged play. Kiah Stokes and Veronica Burton led the way for the Valkyries, producing points in bunches (at least in comparison to some of other talents who stepped onto the court) while blighting the basket on the other end of the floor.

It won’t be easy for the Valkyries to recreate their early-series success. Atlanta will be buoyed by a crowd that will be as committed as ever. State Farm Center will be filled with denizens who quite literally spurned work and school to lend their support to Angel Reese and Co. There’s reason to believe they could carry them through, although the Dream likely will need more offense to give themselves a shot.

Regardless, history could be made on Thursday afternoon. Onlookers should take heed of the potential coronation before the ball is tipped off.

Dream vs. Valkyries highlights, results from WNBA Finals Game 6 of 2026 playoffs

(All times Eastern)

Second quarter

1:20 p.m.: Reese fires home from deep! The Dream haven’t lost a game that Reese has made a triple in. With a 25-point lead, they don’t appear to have any interest in doing so now.

1:14 p.m.: Atlanta is surging. Poor transition defense sees Gray slip beyond Zandalisini to get to the cup. This game is rapidly getting out of hand.

1:10 p.m.: Howard looks to have found her range from deep. She’s up to nine points on the day, canning all three of her long-range efforts early. The Atlanta standout tallied the most triples in a single season in league history during the regular season. She is showing how she landed that accomplishment today.

End of first quarter: Dream 32, Valkyries 15

1:00 p.m.: It’s been tough sledding for Golden State thus far. The Valks have made just five shots thus far. Many of those efforts have been difficult — triples by Cecilia Zandalisini and Gabby Williams were well-contested. Golden State’s offense has struggled to produce points in bunches throughout the series. We’ll see if it can get going as the game wears on.

12:56 p.m.: The Dream are rolling, authoring up a 13-0 run to open up a 17-pint advantage. Atlanta has canned six three pointers in the opening eight minutes of action. Karl Smesko’s side already has eclipsed its tally from the first half of Game 5.

12:52 p.m.: AND-ONE! Reese gets into Stokes, absorbing the contact before flicking the ball up and in with her right hand. That’s her first field goal in nearly 36 minutes. Atlanta needs pleny more.

12:50 p.m.: Decent start by the Dream, all things considered. Naz Hillmon and Allisha Gray found the net early, a welcome sight after poor showings in Game 5.

12:40 p.m.: And we’re off! Game 6 is underway!

Pre-game

12:15 p.m.: Plenty of stars on site at the State Farm Center. While the start time for today’s contest is certainly awkward, it doesn’t look to have deterred some of pop culture’s biggest luminaries from taking hold of the concourses in Atlanta.

12:00 p.m.: The atmosphere is electric in the phone booth! While some doubted the viability of hosting an event in the middle of the work and school day, it’s as lively as ever in the A.

11:45 a.m.: Look good, feel good is the old adage. Reese will hope that comes to fruition on Thursday night.

11:30 a.m.: Speaking of Stokes, here she is splashing triples. A career 23.1 percent shooting from beyond the arc, Stokes sank 3-of-4 three-point attempts in Golden State’s Game 5 win. If she can keep that performance going, it will be hard to deny her or her team of the WNBA crown.

11:00 a.m.: Stokes is perhaps the biggest reason why Golden State leads this series. Dream players are shooting just 9-of-48 on Stokes’ contests this series. She has been the Valkyries defensive anchor through five games. If she can recreate those outings in Game 6, Golden State could be dancing in confetti.

10:30 a.m.: Here’s our first look at Angel Reese striding into State Farm Center today. She has struggled mightily against Kiah Stokes thus far. If Atlanta hopes to extend this series to a decisive Game 7, it will need its talisman to be at her best.
