Lights danced upon the London Palladium on Monday night as the soccer world crowned its best performers from the 2025-26 season.
France Football’s flagship awards ceremony traipsed to the English capital, a nod to famed Blackpool and England forward Stanley Matthews, who bested Real Madrid and Spain standout Alfredo Di Stefano to capture the first-ever Ballon d’Or in 1956.
Seventy years on, an Englishman and Spaniard are once more contesting for the title of best men’s player in the world. Harry Kane and Lamine Yamal are the leading candidates for soccer’s grandest prize. Only one will get their hands on the trophy, constructed from two solid brass discs welded together with a blowtorch.
With that, here’s a look at the list of winners crowned at the 2026 Ballon d’Or ceremony.
