The Detroit Lions are coming off a “Sunday Night Football” loss that just wasn’t pretty. The team fell in a game that they were largely favored to win against the Carolina Panthers. What makes it worse is that it was on national TV, so the whole country got to watch.

Now, the Lions are 2-2 and looking for some wins to keep their playoff hopes alive. Heading into the team’s Sunday game against the Arizona Cardinals, however, two Lions players have gotten some bad news in the form of punishment from the NFL.

Two Detroit Lions players fined by the NFL going into Week 5

Each week, the NFL releases its Week 4 punishments for holding players accountable for their actions during those games. According to its official website, “The NFL uses the fine schedule to outline the league’s and the union’s expectations for players to conduct themselves in a way that honors the sport and respects the game, themselves, their fellow players, the fans and the league.”

In this weekend’s report, the NFL stated that it’s fining Lions linebacker Jack Campbell $15,930 for unnecessary roughness due to a hip-drop tackle at 11:59 in the first quarter, as well as tight end Brock Wright $17,911 for unnecessary roughness due to a leg whip at 8:24 in the third quarter.

Now, both players will have to pay up unless they decide to appeal the fine. So, it’s a bit of bad news going into this important Cardinals matchup, but, of course, the actions weren’t nearly bad enough to get suspended or anything, so that’s a positive. Now, if the Lions can bring their record up to 3-2 against Arizona, they’ll head into their bye week feeling a little bit better.
