The Dallas Cowboys fell to 2-3 on Thursday night when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers came into AT&T Stadium to secure their first win of the season behind undrafted rookie quarterback Jalon Daniels.

That entire set of circumstances, from the short week at home to facing a team without a win, has the Cowboys and their fans perplexed. In fact, one stadium worker let his frustration on the team as they were walking off the field.

A video caught Prescott hearing the worker label the loss “embarrassing” as the quarterback was headed to the locker room.

When Prescott spoke with the media, he was not afraid to call out the stadium worker for seemingly turning shy when he realized Prescott heard what he said. The Cowboys quarterback was actually not upset with the criticism itself, even though it was harsh.

Here’s why Prescott was upset at the stadium worker.

What did Dak Prescott say?

After the Cowboys’ loss on Thursday night, Dak Prescott publicly called out a worker at AT&T Stadium who called losing to the Buccaneers “embarrassing.” However, Prescott was more upset with the worker for seeming regretful when he realized Prescott heard what he said instead of standing up for himself.

“When he said it, I just happened to look at him, and at that point, he looked away,” Prescott said, via ESPN, which reported that the worker was a third-party contractor. “And when I turned my head back, he said something else. And so that’s the part that, just as a man or as just a person, feel free to speak your mind — just speak it. Don’t cower away from the reaction that you’re going to get. And so, if you’re saying it’s embarrassing, say it’s embarrassing. If you’re saying it to me, then say it to me. Don’t go back on it. So that’s all that was, and hate that it’s even being talked about, to be honest with you.”

Thursday night’s loss goes down as one of the worst by any team this year, considering the Cowboys were home and on a short week while playing a rookie backup quarterback. Dallas has aspirations to return to the playoffs this year, but the team is not playing well enough right now at 2-3.

Prescott acknowledged the reality of the situation, telling the media that this was a game the team was supposed to win.

“I think [Brian Schottenheimer] said it best in the locker room: In this league, you’ve got to win the games you’re supposed to win,” he said. “And when a winless team comes into your home stadium in a Thursday night primetime game, yeah, we’re supposed to win that.”
