Aaron Judge does things on the baseball field that seem like they’d be impossible for mere mortals.
The New York Yankees’ 6-foot-7 superstar slugger also puts up stats that feel like they should be impossible.
Here’s the latest example, from Underdog Fantasy stats expert @JayHayKid:
Aaron Judge’s slugging percentage against fastballs (.961) is more than 200 points higher than the 2nd-best slugging percentage against fastballs (Ronald Acuña Jr., .754).

That’s 21.54% better, for those who like statistics.

That shouldn’t be possible.
How can one hitter be so much more potent against fastballs than anyone else in baseball?
And to be leading Acuña like that is wild, because Acuña is batting .369 with nine homers in just 31 games after returning from a torn ACL. With slugging percentage being a rate stat, Acuña’s red-hot stretch puts him right up there on the leadboard.
But somehow, Judge has a gigantic gulf between him and Acuña anyway, not to mention every other hitter in the league.
And that’s even after Judge has slowed down in recent weeks.

His overall slugging percentage is .719, which explains why pitchers rarely give Judge a good fastball. But he’s patient enough to wait them out until he gets a heater, and he usually does damage.
Judge may have a tough time ending up with the Triple Crown, or a .400 average (.361 currently), after a blistering start to the season.
But he’s still been absolutely dominant, and this is just another example of just how special Judge’s season has been.
