  • Mets listed among potential suitors for $21.05 million World Series hero

The New York Mets have struggled mightily over the past few weeks. They have lost three games in a row and are 1-9 in their last 10 games.

The Mets still are in front in the National League Wild Card race, but things haven’t exactly been clicking for them as of late.

They have dealt with several pitching injuries this season. The starting rotation has essentially been decimated.

Zachary D. Rymer of Bleacher Report listed the Mets as a potential fit for Boston Red Sox right-hander Walker Buehler.

“Buehler seems like the kind of guy pitching coach Jeremy Hefner could help. The two have something in common in that they aren’t as keen on four-seamers as they are on sinkers, cutters and sliders,” Rymer wrote.

Buehler is not having a good season in Boston. He’s 5-5 with a 6.29 ERA in 13 starts this year.

However, he still has a good postseason track record. He pitched two gems for the Los Angeles Dodgers in the postseason last year, one of which was against the Mets, and later closed out the New York Yankees to clinch the World Series.

The 30-year-old veteran is a two-time All-Star and two-time World Series champion, so a good reputation precedes him.

The Mets have been without Sean Manaea all season long and were without Frankie Montas and Kodai Senga for some time.

Because of these injuries, New York is an ideal fit for Buehler if they decide to pursue a starter at the trade deadline.

We’ll see if the Mets show any interest.
