McLaren is bringing its iconic chrome livery to the 2025 British Grand Prix. The Papaya team has released its third chrome-inspired livery in as many years, continuing to celebrate their history from the mid-2000s to early 2010s, as well as their partnership with Google Chrome.
This 2025 version, named Legacy at Speed, was released to the public during the team’s McLaren Racing Live: London event in Trafalgar Square on Wednesday. Chrome dominates the sides, intake, and rear of the MCL39, as well as the nose and the front wing.
Lewis McEwen, chief marketing officer of McLaren Racing, looks forward to celebrating the Silverstone team’s history with new fans.
“We know that, while we have millions of fans who have been with the McLaren Formula 1 Team for decades, there are millions more who are new to the sport and the team,” he said. “Being able to celebrate and showcase our long history with the help of Chrome is a fantastic way of bringing these newer fans on the journey with us.

“To celebrate with so many of our fans in London this week as we get ready for our home race makes it even more special!”
Google’s vice president of global product and integrated marketing said, “Google Chrome is proud to join McLaren for McLaren Racing Live: London at Trafalgar Square to reveal the iconic Chrome livery. Google Chrome provides unparalleled speed and performance to McLaren and consumers worldwide.
“We’re excited to help bring the paddock energy to fans in advance of the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.”
Drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri will be sporting black race suits boasting chrome driver numbers to coincide with the livery change, with the former wanting to continue his momentum from a successful Austrian Grand Prix.
With a second place finish at Silverstone from the Briton in 2023 followed by a P3 in 2024, Norris will be wanting to translate the support from his British fanbase into a win to close the gap between him and his drivers’ standings-leading team-mate.
A 1-2 finish from the pair with Norris finishing first would see Piastri maintain his lead, but with a gap of only eight points compared to the current 15.
