  • Lance Stroll gives wrist update after Dutch FP2 crash, Kimi Antonelli and Alex Albon explain offs

Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll, Mercedes’ Andrea Kimi Antonelli, and Williams’ Alex Albon were all involved in incidents during the first two practice sessions of the Dutch Grand Prix weekend.

Stroll suffered the biggest crash of the trio during the second practice session, causing extensive damage to the AMR25 and raising concerns about his wrists due to his history of wrist injuries. The Canadian driver has since provided an update on what happened and confirmed that his wrists are “all good”.

“Yeah, just a little lock-up,” Stroll explained after the session. “And then from there, I was just a passenger. So, just one of those things.”

Despite the crash, the Aston Martin driver is feeling positive for the weekend ahead.

“We look competitive all the way throughout the day. And again, Fernando now [second] in FP2. We’re in a good spot and will see what we can do tomorrow.”

Mercedes rookie driver Antonelli went off in the first practice session. Although he avoided a crash, his W16 became beached in the gravel, ending his session.

“Yeah, I was pushing pretty hard early on in FP1, and then I locked up, and then I got beached, and my session was over after just one lap,” the Italian explained.

“It was obviously not ideal because I lost some mileage and didn’t do any laps, basically. In FP2, I kind of had to build my rhythm. There’s quite a bit of work to do, but we know where to improve and now looking forward on to tomorrow.”

Williams’s Albon collided with the wall after he understeered at Turn 1, causing light damage to the front of the car before it also became beached in the gravel.

“I think not many people got many laps in the long run anyway, more because of me than anything else. It’s not the end of the world, just got to kind of play around with the car a bit,” Albon said.

“It’s very windy around here, so it’s very easy to get caught out by the gusts. I got caught out a couple of times in FP2, but nothing serious. Luckily, only the front wing to put in the parts bin, but otherwise we’ll be OK. I think the car’s not too bad.”
