  • Colorado Buffaloes football coach Deion Sanders’ health issue that are making return to Boulder unclear said to be likely related to previous foot issues

Colorado Buffaloes football coach Deion Sanders has been MIA in Boulder this offseason as he continues to deal with serious health issues.

Coach Prime’s absence has largely been unexplained, but it’s highly likely that he’s battling complications from his long-standing foot problems.

“It’s still not entirely clear what the health issue Sanders has been battling is. The entire Sanders family has agreed to stay quiet on the matter as the Hall of Famer heals,” The Spun’s Tzvi Machlin wrote.

“But between the weighted vest he’s been wearing and his well-documented medical history, it wouldn’t be a big shock if it has something to do with foot or leg issues.”

As USA Today’s Brent Schrotenboer noted last week, Sanders’ absence has seen him miss several responsibilities mandated by his coaching contract.

“Sanders Sr. has been away from his job in Colorado since April and did not attend Colorado’s annual youth and high school camps in June, even though operating such camps is listed in his employment contract as one of his official duties,” Schrotenboer wrote.

“The timing of his return to campus remains unclear. This is usually a dead time of year for head coaches in college football, but he is due to make an appearance at a Big 12 Conference media event in Frisco, Texas, on July 9.”

Sanders’ return isn’t in doubt. When he’ll be back is unclear right now.

It’d be a major shocker if he weren’t running with Ralphie at Folsom Field, or at least attempting to, when Georgia Tech visits on August 29 for their 2025 season opener.
