According to a report in The Telegraph, Chelsea star Đorđe Petrovic is exploring options to leave the club when the second transfer window opens and has asked to be left out of the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup squad.

The Blues are actively on the lookout for a new goalkeeper in the transfer window and have been heavily linked with move for AC Milan shot-stopper Mike Maignan.

Enzo Maresca’s team is expected to return to the table for Maignan once the second transfer window opens next week.

This means that the writing is on the wall for Petrovic at Chelsea. He is said to be on the lookout for another club where he can be the first-choice goalkeeper and has reportedly informed Chelsea about his decision.

The report adds that the situation does remain amicable and professional between Chelsea and Petrović, and that “should [he] fail to secure a permanent move away”, he will “rejoin the squad for pre-season training in July”.

That would be slightly awkward and would likely result in another loan somewhere.
