Bayern Munich started their journey in the ongoing Club World Cup with a massive win against Auckland City on June 15 at TQL Stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Auckland City are a non-professional side from New Zealand and are the only amateur team in the Club World Cup, which includes a total of 32 clubs. They suffered a 10-0 defeat against Bayern in their first match of the competition.
Following the match, Bayern’s Michael Olise, who netted a hattrick on Sunday, was asked by DAZN if he felt bad for Auckland City as his squad was clearly the stronger side. To which, the 23-year-old responded (comments via GOAL) with a smile, and said,
“Nope. No.”
With this huge win, Bayern Munich also set a new FIFA record.
What new record did Bayern Munich set at the Club World Cup?
Even with the consideration that the two sides were not evenly matched opponents, Bayern’s results against Auckland City still remain a spectacle.
