Arkansas vs. Murray State live updates, highlights from College World Series

(All times Eastern)

End of fifth inning: Arkansas 1 Murray State 0

3:26 p.m. — Wood drops another filthy hook for his 11th punch out. The righty is dialed in as we head to the sixth.

3:24 p.m. — Make it seven straight Ks and 10 strikeouts overall for Wood, as he drops a hammer on Decker.

3:20 p.m. — Silva gets a ground ball to escape a jam again. The Racers have to get their bats going to have a chance in this one, but their starter is keeping them in game.

3:18 p.m. — After a review and an overturned call, Aloy beats out a ground ball that would have been an inning-ending double play. There are runners on the corners with two outs.

3:15 p.m. — Silva’s worked himself into some trouble again. A base hit and a four-pitch walk puts two runners on with one out. The Murray State pitching coach is headed to the mound with Wehiwa Aloy, the SEC Player of the Year coming to the plate.

End of fourth inning: Arkansas 1 Murray State 0

3:07 p.m. — Wood strikes out the side again in the bottom of the fourth. That’s six straight Ks for the Arkansas hurler. His fastball-slider combination looks unhittable right now.

3:00 p.m. — Silva gets three fly-ball outs. He needed a quick inning to keep his pitch count down.

End of third inning: Arkansas 1 Murray State 0

2:55 p.m. — Wood strikes out the side in the bottom of the third. He’s absolutely rolling right now, with the Racers struggling to catch up to his fastball.

2:48 p.m. — Helfrick strikes out swinging on a slider to end the inning. Silva escapes a jam and only gives up the one run.

2:41 p.m. — Davalon swipes second to put two runners in scoring position for the Razorbacks with no outs.

2:38 p.m. — Davalon strokes a base hit into left field, and Robinette comes around to score. Arkansas breaks through first.

2:36 p.m. — Robinette lines a double into the right-center field gap, the first hard contact of the day for the Razorbacks

End of second inning: Arkansas 0 Murray State 0

2:33 p.m. — Vierling makes the best contact on Wood so far, but his long fly ball to right dies on the warning track. It’s scoreless after two.

2:27 p.m. — Silva fires a six-pitch top of the second, including a strikeout of Kuhio Aloy.

2:26 p.m. — A dichotomy of the size and resources of these two programs was on full display: Silva had to change out his cleats between the first and second innings because they were completely worn down from a long season.

End of first inning: Arkansas 0 Murray State 0

2:23 p.m. — Some gas from Wood blows away Garner. We’ve got a good pitching duel developing.

2:21 p.m. — Wood drops a nasty curveball on Mercer for his first punch out.

2:19 p.m. — Gage Wood takes the mound for Arkansas. Hitters swing and miss at his mid-90’s heater 43% of the time, per the ESPN broadcast.

2:16 p.m. —Silva strikes out Helfrick with a slider, and the Racers are off to great start as they come to bat in the bottom of the first.

2:10 p.m. — Silva fans Davalon with a sinker away, a great sign for the sinkerball pitcher.

2:09 p.m. — Silva’s first pitch is a strike at the top of the zone, and we are underway.

2:05 p.m. — Murray State has taken the field, and first pitch is moments away.
