The Lions (1-2-0) are wrapping up their final week of preseason tune-ups, set to welcome the Texans (1-1-0) to Ford Field on Saturday for the exhibition finale.
Detroit head into their final preseason test sitting at 1-2, having dropped games to the Chargers and Dolphins while notching a shortened win over the Falcons. Saturday marks the last chance for quarterbacks Kyle Allen and Hendon Hooker to make their case as Jared Goff’s understudy.
Allen has looked sharper in recent outings against Atlanta and Miami, giving him a slight edge heading into this week. Rookie wideouts Isaac TeSlaa and Jackson Meeks have also made noise, each finding the end zone twice to share the team lead in preseason scores.
Meanwhile, Houston were impressive in their 2025 preseason home debut, cruising past the Carolina Panthers 20-3 at NRG Stadium. The offense clicked regardless of who was taking snaps, with C.J. Stroud linking up with Nico Collins for a crisp out-route touchdown and British Brooks bulldozing his way in for another score.
Tight end Irv Smith was particularly effective, hauling in five grabs for 46 yards to pace all Houston receivers.
