At this time next week, there’s a chance Daniel Jones is on a new NFL team for the fourth time.

As the Colts‘ 2026 season has imploded and other veterans have already been traded, rumors surrounding Jones have been picking up for potential quarterback-needy teams like the Vikings.

It’s no guarantee that Jones — especially with another year on his contract — will find a new home. But if he does, Week 9 against the Cowboys would have been his final game as a Colt, and it had a rather fitting ending.

Here’s a look at Jones’ potential final pass with the Colts, a game-ending interception.

Daniel Jones’ potential last pass with Colts

Indianapolis did give Dallas a run for its money despite coming in as an underdog, short-handed after its trades and trending toward the bottom of the NFL in 2026. The Colts came back in the third quarter and tied it in the fourth, even with Jones having a modest performance outside of a long touchdown pass to Ashton Dulin.

When Spencer Shrader connected on his second field goal of the fourth quarter from 50 yards out, the Colts had a chance to pull off an upset. But Dallas finally responded with a four-play touchdown drive just moments later, and Jones took the field needing a game-winning drive.

On the first play, with a minute remaining, Jones was flagged for intentional grounding. Two plays later, he was looking for Keenan Allen on a 3rd & 22 when rookie Caleb Downs jumped in front of his pass, picking it off.

Jones’ 10th interception of the season lost it for Indianapolis.

After signing with the Colts on a prove-it deal in 2025, Jones had a terrific start to the year, throwing for 19 touchdowns and rushing for another five over 13 games as the Colts looked like a playoff team. But ever since his Achilles tear that ended his 2025 season, Jones and the team haven’t been the same.

Since Dec. 7 against the Jaguars last season — the game Jones tore his Achilles — the Colts have gone 2-12, including a 2-7 record so far in 2026. Their defense has been one of the NFL’s worst this season, while Jones’ turnover issues have resurfaced.

With Jones carrying a $46.8 million cap hit in 2027, per Spotrac, it’s no guarantee another NFL team will be willing to trade for him before Tuesday’s deadline.  But if he does get moved to a team like Minnesota, Sunday marked an ugly ending to Jones’ disappointing run in Indianapolis.
