The Pittsburgh Steeles have reason to hope heading into the latter part of the NFL season. This team is No. 1 in the AFC North and has one of the top quarterbacks of all time at the helm in Aaron Rodgers.

They could make a move before the NFL trade deadline to help Rodgers. The deadline falls on Nov. 10, and many NFL analysts are pairing Pittsburgh with a new wide receiver.

On Friday, JP Acosta of CBS Sports unleashed his roster of trade ideas heading into the deadline. “For every team in the current playoff picture, we’ll break down one realistic trade and one pipe dream trade they can make to put themselves over the top, in addition to a few interesting ones outside of the playoff mix,” he notes.

Acosta pairs the Steelers with wide receiver Josh Downs of the Indianapolis Colts. He even calls him the “exact receiver this version of the Steelers needs.”

“While he’s more of a slot receiver, he’s a guy who can win with crafty route running and acceleration in and out of breaks,” Acosta notes. He adds that Rodgers “loves throwing sight adjustments and option slants to receivers when he sees the number count in his favor, but those haven’t worked with Metcalf. Downs can win on those and give the Steelers an easy button in their passing game.”

It’s an enticing thought. Whether it happens remains to be seen, but it’s certainly a situation to watch.
