The Detroit Lions and every other team in the NFL are coming up on the official trade deadline, which falls on Nov. 10. After 4 p.m. EP that day, teams won’t be able to trade for another player in the NFL, so it’s an important date.
JP Acosta of CBS Sports has released a roster of potential trade moves leading up to the trade deadline, and he offers up both “pipe dream” ideas as well as one realistic option for each club. “The NFL trade deadline is less than a week away, and every team is in position to either put themselves over the top in hopes of a playoff push, or to completely reset their franchise and move on to NFL Draft season,” he notes.
Detroit Lions could make a big trade move before No 10
For the lions, he likes the idea of head coach Dan Campbell and company getting a cornerback. This isn’t exactly unexpected. People know the Lions need a solid cornerback added.
He likes Charvarius Ward of the Indianapolis Colts as a dream trade and Amik Robertson of the Washington Commanders as a realistic one.
“If you’re reading this, the Lions still might need you to play cornerback,” he says. “Their secondary has been the weakest part of the defense this season by a massive amount.”
He adds, “Even though they got S Brian Branch back (and S Kerby Joseph has returned to practice), adding more cornerbacks to a room devastated by injury and poor play could help this defensive line transform from being very bad to at least passable for a playoff team.”
General manager Brad Holmes isn’t known for making big trade moves at this time in the season. But he may have to make an exception.
