Barcelona’s summer transfer window has been defined by caution, precision, and a search for balance amid financial strain.

The club, still handcuffed by La Liga’s salary caps, have entered the transfer window with one eye on talent and the other on the budget sheet.

It’s a balancing act that could define Hansi Flick’s first full campaign in charge.

Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia was the first arrival, signed for €24m [$28m]. He’s expected to compete directly with Marc-André ter Stegen, who is reportedly growing frustrated with the uncertainty over his role.

Behind the scenes, talks are progressing with Arsenal’s Thomas Partey, who may arrive on a free transfer, with Blaugranes seeing him as a cost-effective veteran who can strengthen the midfield.

The Spanish side have also targeted Luis Diaz and Marcus Rashford, with the Colombian winger emerging as the top priority.

A move for Athletic Club’s Nico Williams didn’t materialise, with him signing a 10-year contract with the Red and Whites.

And now, a respected voice has stepped in to add urgency to one overlooked area.

Bojan Krkic Sr., a former Barcelona scout and father of ex-Spain forward Bojan, has publicly urged the club to act fast to secure one key slot.

“Barça needs another left-back,” he said “Balde and Gerard Martín are solid, but a long season demands depth.”

Krkic, who spent over a decade scouting talent for the club, pointed to defenders like Jorrel Hato, Micky van de Ven, Theo Hernandez, and Alex Grimaldo as perfect modern full-backs.

“ Flick wants a modern full-back—aggressive, intelligent, and versatile. These guys fit this evolving role,” he added.

With Alex Valle sold to Como and no replacement lined up yet, pressure is mounting on Flick to act swiftly.
