The Pittsburgh Steelers are getting hot again, and they’re coming off a 16-10 win over the New Orleans Saints to head into Week 8. Now, they’re up against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, and the Browns are a surprisingly tough competitor this season. Both of these teams are 5-2 going into the game, so it’s an important one in the AFC North.
So, the Steelers could very well be the kind of team to go deep into the playoffs. They have a new head coach in Mike McCarthy and, of course, veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers. But it’s not crazy to think that they could make a bold trade before the NFL’s Nov. 10 trade deadline.
ESPN sees Steelers linebacker Patrick Queen as a potential trade candidate before the NFL deadline
In a piece released on Wednesday, ESPN’s Matt Bowen and Jeremy Fowler discuss potential trade candidates before the deadline. They specifically talk about a possibility with the Steelers.
Linebacker Patrick Queen is the guy they see the Steelers most likely trading. But they only put that possibility at 20%, so it’s not very likely, but more likely than other players.
If he goes, they see him heading to either the Dallas Cowboys and/or Buffalo Bills.
“Rumors of a Queen trade persisted in the spring, with the Cowboys among teams that checked on his availability,” Fowler notes. “He’s also a 2027 free agent. But the Steelers’ status as a 5-2 team likely keeps him in Pittsburgh.”
It’s certainly the case that because the Steelers are a real contender, that makes their likelihood of trading Queen a lot less. But it’s something to keep an eye on before Nov. 10.
