All year long, the Chicago White Sox and Cleveland Guardians battled for the AL Central title. Now, they will play each other in the playoffs
The White Sox were the biggest surprise of the 2026 MLB season, earning a wild card spot after losing over 100 games in the previous three seasons. Thanks to a compliment of talented young hitters, Chicago will have a chance to make a rare playoff run.
Meanwhile, the Guardians are a mainstay in the playoffs after winning the AL Central in each of the last three seasons. Cleveland is, of course, led by its strong pitching staff, and while Jose Ramirez battled injuries in a down year, the third basemen remains the team’s biggest star.
This series features the two worst teams left in the postseason, but that doesn’t matter now that they are here.
