For the first time in 32 years, the World Series is back in Toronto.
The title-starved Blue Jays and defending champion Dodgers open their best-of-seven set Friday with a fascinating pitching matchup that highlights the contrast between the last two teams standing in the 2025 MLB season.
The blue-blood Dodgers will send veteran Blake Snell to the mound, hoping to see him continue a dominant postseason. The 32-year-old lefty has allowed just two runs in 21 innings across three starts while striking out 28 batters in the process.
While Snell will be making his 14th postseason start and 16th playoff appearance overall, the Blue Jays will turn once again to rookie Trey Yesavage. When the 22-year-old delivers the first pitch of the World Series, he will have made more postseason starts (four) than regular-season starts in his young career.
Can he contain Shohei Ohtani and a deep, experienced Dodgers lineup? Can Snell find a way to do something no other pitcher this October has done and limit the damage from Vladimir Guerrero Jr.?
