Tottenham were similarly comfortable victors, brushing aside newly promoted Burnley 3-0 in north London.

City have only won one of the past four editions of this fixture at the Etihad Stadium, and were forced to come from 2-0 down at halftime to triumph 4-2 in January 2023 in that instance.

Spurs’ 4-0 win in Manchester last season was one of the low points of a startling mid-season collapse from Guardiola’s men, who rarely had things all their own way against Frank’s Brentford.
