MANCHESTER, UK — Manchester City host Tottenham in an enticing early kickoff in the Premier League on Saturday.
Pep Guardiola’s men got off to an emphatic start in England’s top-flight last weekend, beating Wolves 4-0. Erling Haaland bagged a brace and new signing Tijjani Reijnders impressed with a goal and an assist.
Tottenham were similarly comfortable victors, brushing aside newly promoted Burnley 3-0 in north London.
City have only won one of the past four editions of this fixture at the Etihad Stadium, and were forced to come from 2-0 down at halftime to triumph 4-2 in January 2023 in that instance.
Spurs’ 4-0 win in Manchester last season was one of the low points of a startling mid-season collapse from Guardiola’s men, who rarely had things all their own way against Frank’s Brentford.

Man City vs. Tottenham lineups, team news
Guardiola could well name an unchanged starting lineup from the opening weekend. Rodri and Phil Foden had their fitness confirmed by their manager on Friday but are most likely to feature form the bench. Omar Marmoush‘s prolific record on home turf gives him a chance of edging out Jeremy Doku on the left-hand side of the attack
James Trafford is expected to keep his place in Manchester City’s goal as Ederson continues to be linked with a move away from the club.
Josko Gvardiol will remain sidelined as he continues his recovery from a knock. Meanwhile, Savinho — a reported transfer target for Tottenham — is expected to return only after the international break as he too recovers from an injury.
Mateo Kovacic, too, is expected to return from an Achilles injury only after the international window next month.
Man City predicted XI (4-3-3, right to left): Trafford (GK) — Lewis, Stones, Dias, Ait-Nouri — Silva, Rodri, Reijnders — Foden, Haaland, Marmoush
