One of the biggest stars at Real Madrid, whose future at the club is in doubt, is Rodrygo Goes. Just days before Real Madrid’s La Liga opener against Osasuna, Rodrygo has caused more speculation about his future this summer.

The summer transfer window closes on September 1, but Premier League clubs have still shown interest in signing Rodrygo this summer. The Brazilian player only started at the right wing position once under Xabi Alonso, which was against Al Hilal in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

Rodrygo didn’t start for Real Madrid’s friendly against WSG Tirol but scored in the second half. His celebration was calm, which worried Madrid fans as he appeared unhappy by many.

Álvaro Esteban reports that Rodrygo was 12 minutes late to Real Madrid’s team training. The report suggests that Xabi Alonso set training to start at 9:30am for players who are not injured. This delay has sparked more speculation on his relationship with Alonso being broken.

The game against Osasuna on Tuesday could be another indicator of whether Alonso will count on Rodrygo this season, but if the Brazilian is not used, his departure could be imminent.

Alonso is reportedly already impressed with Franco Mastantuono, who plays as a right winger. The Argentinian youngster is expected to play against Osasuna.

Manchester City’s Interest in Rodrygo

Man City are the favorites in signing Rodrygo this summer as their interest remains strong. Fabrizio Romano reports that Rodrygo is the main target for Man City if the English club sells Savinho.

Savinho is linked to a move to Tottenham, and the player is open to the move. There is no agreement between Man City and Spurs in terms of the transfer fee, but if there is, Savinho will likely leave.

Xabi Alonso will speak the the press tomorrow ahead of the game against Osasuna at the Santiago Bernabeu.
