The New York Knicks have responded to Tyler Kolek and Miles McBride’s recent comments about Taylor Swift that questioned her allegiance to the New York team.
Kolek and McBride made an appearance on the NBA 2K League TikTok livestream this week when they were asked, “Who’s the fakest celeb fan you’ve seen courtside?”
Kolek answered: “Maybe Taylor Swift?”
McBride responded quickly, presuming how his teammate’s response would unfold online, “I would agree…Swifties not gonna like that answer.”
Kolek agreed with McBride’s evaluation of his answer, “I’m gonna get some hate…I guess she’s got a lot going on…can’t come all the time…but it’s a little performative.”
In the Knicks guard’s defense, he did acknowledge that given her celebrity status, she has a super busy schedule and cannot attend games very often.

What Did The Knicks Say In Response?
The Knicks organization responded to Kolek and McBride’s comments with a statement to Entertainment Weekly on Nov. 6.
“Taylor Swift has been a Knicks fan for many years, has a long history with Madison Square Garden, and we are incredibly appreciative of her support of the organization.”
Swift’s most recent appearance in Madison Square Garden to cheer on the team was for Game 4 of the NBA Finals when the Knicks faced the San Antonio Spurs. She sat courtside with friends Alana and Este Haim as well as Mariska Hargitay, where they all rocked custom shirts to cheer on the Knicks.
The last time she was at MSG was ironically not basketball-related. She said “I do” to Travis Kelce on July 3 in front of 1,000 of their star-studded guests.
Despite the comments that McBride and Kolek made questioning her Knicks fandom, the superstar has been sighted at home games since she moved to New York City in 2014.
Kolek and McBride sharing their grievances on Swift’s “performative” attendance follows their teammate Jose Alvarado expressing that he wants to see her at more games this season.
“That’s a surreal superstar, and I was happy she was cheering us on,” the Knicks point guard told Us Weekly back in June. “And [she] seemed like she was having a good time, and we won, so even better.”
Alvarado told the outlet that, “She got to come more often.”
Kolek and McBride have not reacted to the Knicks’ statement at this time.
