Antonio Brown has avoided prison time more than a year after a shooting at a celebrity boxing tournament.
The four-time first-team All-Pro was in court on Friday to hear his sentence in connection with the May 2025 shooting. The 38-year-old saw his charges reduced after announcing his intention to take a plea deal. As it turns out, that will see him avoid prison entirely despite initially being charged with a felony.
Here’s the latest on Brown’s court case that reached its conclusion on Friday.

Antonio Brown learns his fate in attempted murder case
Brown pleaded guilty to aggravated assault with a firearm on Friday. He was sentenced to three years of probation, avoiding prison time.
Brown was initially charged with second-degree attempted murder with a firearm in connection to the shooting. He faced up to 30 years in prison with a 20-year mandatory minimum sentence on that charge.
By accepting a plea deal, Brown avoided a potential prison sentence.
The former NFL wideout fired shots after getting into a fistfight with a man during a celebrity boxing tournament in Miami’s Little Haiti neighborhood. The victim, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, was allegedly grazed in the neck by a bullet from Brown. He previously said he has since forgiven Brown.
Prosecutor Howard Rosen said in court Friday that his office worked to reduce Brown’s sentence because it was uncertain if Brown intentionally fired shots at Nantambu, who was walking away from the altercation at the time.
As part of Brown’s sentence, he’ll have to attend weekly counseling sessions and not possess a firearm, among other conditions, per ESPN.
After leaving the court, Brown thanked God and vowed to “get back to life” with his loved ones.
“He faced a 30-year prison sentence, including a 20-year mandatory minimum,” said Mark Eiglarsh, Brown’s lawyer. “The prosecutors offered to reduce the charge and allow him to serve probation without a conviction. Given the stakes, it was an offer we couldn’t refuse,” Eiglarsh added.
Police said that Brown grabbed a handgun from a security guard and fired two shots at a man he previously fought. Brown maintained that he was defending himself from an attack, alleging that others at the celebrity boxing tournament were attempting to rob him of his jewelry.
