Cameron Boozer is only a few weeks into his NBA career, and he already looks like one of the most well-rounded offensive players in the league.

After his standout year at Duke, Boozer was anticipated to be as ready for the pros as a one-and-done player can get — and that’s held up over the first two weeks of the 2026-27 season. As the new focal point of the Grizzlies, Boozer hasn’t just been a nightly double-double threat; he’s also been leading a winning team.

With the Grizzlies off to a hot start, Boozer’s been playing well enough lately to potentially even put himself in All-Star conversations over the coming months.

Here’s why one NBA expert gave Boozer an impressive — but not perfect — grade to the start of his career.

Why Grizzlies’ Cameron Boozer didn’t earn perfect grade by NBA expert

Sporting News’ Steph Noh gave Boozer an A- for the first seven games of his career, noting that the Grizzlies forward has shown “great polish” and looked “like an NBA veteran despite being the youngest player in the league.”

Noh ranked Boozer only behind just one fellow rookie: Yaxel Lendeborg, who has been a revelation for the Warriors, averaging 21.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per game and immediately emerging as a top scoring option for Golden State.

Considering Lendeborg has been historically great early in his rookie season, it’s not much of a knock on Boozer to finish second on Noh’s list. The Grizzlies forward has been as NBA-ready as many scouts anticipated, orchestrating a ton of offense for Memphis, which has been one of the biggest surprises in the NBA.

Noh did note, however, that Boozer has been inefficient at times, shooting 29% from the field through his first three games. Since then, Boozer has picked it up; his 10.8 rebounds per game rank eighth among all NBA players, and his 5.6 assists per game ranks second among all rookies.

The Grizzlies have also gone 7-1 so far, with their lone loss coming in overtime against the Pelicans on Monday.

Boozer also notched his first career triple-double against the Trail Blazers last week, quickly becoming one of the most versatile players in the NBA. In a loaded Rookie of the Year race, it will take a lot for Boozer to win the award — but he’s likely to set some Grizzlies rookie records this season if he continues his current pace.
