The St. Louis Cardinals have made one of their first offseason moves.

According to Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the NL Central club has re-signed left-handed reliever Josh Fleming to a minor-league deal.

” #stlcards have re-signed Webster University alum Josh Fleming to a minor-league deal. The lefty will provide depth for the rotation,” Goold wrote on X.

Fleming, 30, has pitched in the Majors in parts of six seasons, mostly with the Tampa Bay Rays from 2020-23.

He made one appearance with the Toronto Blue Jays in 2026, allowing four earned runs in three innings. The lefty has a 4.86 ERA in 257.2 innings.

“He finally found his way to the Cardinals organization for the final stretch of the season.

“After posting a low-3.00s ERA at Triple-A with the Blue Jays’ and Cubs’ affiliates, Fleming struggled with Memphis. He was tagged for 21 earned runs over 29 2/3 innings. Fleming gave up nine homers in six starts,” Charlie Wright of MLB Trade Rumors wrote.

Fleming will likely start the year at Triple-A Memphis and can be injury insurance for the Cardinals’ Major League rotation.

They head into next year with Michael McGreevy, Kyle Leahy, Andre Pallante, and Matthew Liberatore as the top four starters.

Fleming has made 25 starts in 81 career appearances, so he can be used as a long reliever if he impresses in spring training.
