Bill Belichick and Jordon Hudson have split, but the details surrounding why have since been revealed.
The couple quietly split a year ago, according to several reports, but it was unbeknownst to the public until last week. The pair were still seen supporting one another at their events as Hudson continues to cheer for Code Black and Belichick leaves his mark on UNC-Chapel Hill as the head football coach. A source spoke to TMZ, sharing that they are “committed to their business partnerships and remain close friends.”
Since the split went public, UNC faced the University of Miami on Saturday, Oct. 31, and had a frustrating 38-35 loss. Belichick reportedly shared his frustration over the timing of the breakup news.
“He would much rather this stayed under wraps,” the source told The Daily Mail. ‘The last thing he wanted was a distraction, but unfortunately, here they are, having to deal with it at the worst possible time. It’s certainly not the way he wanted this week to unfold.”
Why Did Jordon Hudson and Bill Belichick Reportedly Split?
An insider told the outlet that attention centered on their relationship came to play in the breakup.
“Their relationship started to become bigger news than either of them ever wanted, and Bill was trying to protect it while also giving it the attention he felt it deserved,” the source continued.
The source added that Belichick was looking forward to having a life with Hudson but “outside scrutiny” continued to be a factor in the progression of their relationship.
“‘Looking back, that was a big part of what pulled his focus away from football last season,” the source explained. “He was thinking about taking the next steps with her, getting engaged, getting married, and building a future together, while also dealing with the constant attention and outside scrutiny that came with being in such a high-profile relationship. It became overwhelming for both of them.”
The source claims Hudson was invited to compete on Dancing with the Stars but decided not to due to the spotlight in her relationship.
“Eventually, the pressure started taking a toll, and they both felt it was best to slow things down and take a step back. But they made a conscious decision not to tell anyone,” the source says.
The couple who met in 2021 on a flight from Boston to Florida began dating in 2023. Hudson is reportedly dating other people, but the source claims it’s not impossible for them to rekindle their romance in the future.
“Don’t rule out the possibility of them finding their way back to each other down the road, but realistically, that probably wouldn’t happen until Bill is finished with football,” the insider adds.
At this time, neither Belichick nor Hudson have commented on the alleged split.
