Arsenal will attempt to return to the top of the Premier League when they visit Anfield to face Liverpool on Sunday.
Manchester City’s 1-0 defeat to Brighton on Saturday means Mikel Arteta’s champions know they will lead the way if they avoid defeat on Merseyside.
However, they return to the north west of England still smarting from the humiliation of exiting the Carabao Cup courtesy of a penalty shootout defeat to League Two Fleetwood Town.
Liverpool are undefeated in five matches since losing to City last month and Andoni Iraola’s men will be keen to press their own title credentials.

Prematch
10:25 a.m. – There’s a big call in midfield from Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola, who hands a first Premier League start to Trey Nyoni at the expense of Ryan Gravenberch. Otherwise, it’s the team that prevailed against in-form Brighton last weekend.

10 a.m. – A positive result at Anfield is easier said than done for Arsenal, though. Although Arteta has transformed almost everything about their fortunes since taking the reins of a shambolic operation in late 2019, the Gunners remain without a Premier League win away to Liverpool since September 2012. Dominik Szoboszlai, who settled matters with a wonderful free-kick in this fixture last year, is absent with a hamstring injury.

9:30 a.m. – Hello and welcome to The Sporting News’ live coverage of Liverpool vs. Arsenal. Mikel Arteta’s champions will replace Manchester City at the top of the table if they avoid defeat. Andoni Iraola’s Reds are unbeaten in five across all competitions since losing to City last month. Can they show they’re the real deal as title challengers here?
