For the first time in WNBA history, the Finals are going the distance.
The Atlanta Dream and Golden State Valkyries meet in Game 7 on Saturday night at Chase Center, with one franchise set to lift its first championship trophy. Atlanta saved its season with an 80-69 win in Game 6 on Thursday, as Allisha Gray and Rhyne Howard got hot from deep and Angel Reese chipped in 15 points on a night she set the record for rebounds in a single Finals series.
Momentum swung hard in that one. Golden State had won Games 4 and 5 with suffocating defense, and the Valkyries were a heavy favorite to close it out. Instead, the Dream jumped out to a 20-point halftime lead and never let Golden State back in, even after Gabby Williams poured in 22 in the second half.
Now the oddsmakers can barely separate them. The Valkyries opened as 1.5-point favorites at DraftKings, with the total sitting at 144.5. Home court is the edge for Golden State, but Atlanta has the swagger back.

Dream vs. Valkyries prediction
I’m siding with the Valkyries to finish the job at home.
Atlanta’s Game 6 performance was impressive, but it was also the kind of shooting night that’s tough to bank on twice. The Dream knocked down 13 3-pointers to stay alive. Two nights earlier, they managed just 55 points in a Game 5 loss in San Francisco. This series has been a defensive slugfest, and the Dream’s offense has been streaky against Golden State’s length.
The Valkyries had the league’s best defensive rating and net rating in the regular season, and they’ve leaned on that identity all postseason. Their 9-of-34 first half in Game 6 had more to do with Atlanta’s defense than anything broken on their end. Back in front of the Ballhalla crowd, I expect cleaner looks and a much better start.
Gabby Williams is the other big reason I’m on Golden State. She’s been the best player in this postseason, averaging north of 22 points while guarding the opponent’s top option on the other end. In a winner-take-all game, I want the team with the best player on the floor.
Reese will have her moments on the glass, and the Dream won’t go quietly. Still, Golden State swept the regular-season series and has held serve at home when it counted. I’ll back the Valkyries to complete the fastest expansion-to-title run in WNBA history.
Prediction: Valkyries 67, Dream 62

Dream vs. Valkyries best bet
Game 6 got away from the Valkyries before they found their footing. Atlanta fed off their home crowd, poured in 32 points in the first quarter and took a 20-point lead into halftime.
Still, I came away from that game feeling better about Golden State. Once the Dream’s early barrage cooled off, the Valkyries outscored them by six over the final 30 minutes and cut a 25-point deficit to eight late in the fourth. They looked like themselves again, and now they get to carry that into Chase Center on Saturday night.
Defense has decided this series. Every time Atlanta has been held under 70 points, they’ve lost. Golden State did exactly that in Games 4 and 5, including a 65-55 win in Game 5 where the Dream scored just 22 points in the first half. The Valkyries want this game slow and gritty, and Ballhalla on Halloween with a title on the line is the perfect place to drag it there.
Kiah Stokes is the player I’m watching closest. Her legs looked heavy Thursday, and she played only 20 minutes, but she’s a three-time champion, and the Valkyries have been at their best whenever she’s won her matchup with Angel Reese. Reese still pulled down 14 boards in Game 6, though it took her 18 shots to get to 15 points.
History leans Golden State’s way, too. The WNBA Finals went the distance eight times in the best-of-five era, and the home team won six of those. The Valkyries have already shown they can take a punch in this series, bouncing back from losses in Games 2 and 3 with two straight wins to grab control. I’ll trust the home team and the better defense to finish the job.

Best Cecilia Zandalasini player prop
Cecilia Zandalasini has quietly turned into one of Golden State’s most reliable scorers in this series.
The Italian forward was mostly an afterthought in the first two rounds, failing to reach eight points in any of the Valkyries’ five games against Dallas and Las Vegas. The Finals have been a different story. Zandalasini has cleared this number in five of the six games against Atlanta, and she’s done it in four straight, scoring 13, 10, 12 and 9 points.
Her role has grown along with the production. She’s averaging just over 20 minutes per game in this stretch, and Natalie Nakase has trusted her to space the floor alongside Gabby Williams. Atlanta’s defense collapses on drives, which leaves Zandalasini spotting up for kick-out 3s. She’s averaging 1.5 makes per game from deep, so a couple of triples puts her right at the line.
She’s also playing with plenty of confidence. Even in Game 6, when the Valkyries couldn’t buy a bucket early, she still got to nine. Back home with the title on the line, I expect her to keep getting her looks and push past eight again.
