Halloween marks the end of a stretch that has seen the Sabres play seven of eight games on the road, and Buffalo is looking to finish its West Coast swing on a high note against the Kings.

The Sabres have won their first two games in California on this trip, with Thursday’s victory in Anaheim going down as the wildest game of the season so far. After the Ducks took a 3-1 lead, the Sabres scored six unanswered goals — including a natural hat trick for Tage Thompson — to go up 7-3 before holding off a late Anaheim rally to prevail 7-6.

Buffalo faces a Kings team that has struggled to find a groove in Peter Laviolette’s first season behind the bench, dropping its first six games before some more positive signs recently. Thursday’s game against the Senators was illustrative of the way things have been doing, as LA surrendered four third-period goals to blow a 5-1 lead, then picked up the win on a Quinton Byfield goal in overtime.
