The Boston Celtics traded Jaylen Brown during the summer, ending a tenure that saw the guard help lead the franchise to an NBA championship. However, his time in Boston came to an ugly end after the Celtics unsuccessfully attempted to trade him for former Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Brown ultimately landed with division rival Philadelphia 76ers. He has been vocal about the situation, including making a comment about his relationship with Jayson Tatum over the weekend.

“He’s got a great PR team. It’s no beef, but it might be a little lamb chop. And some gravy. He should stay ready at all times,” Brown said.

Following Brown’s comments, former Celtics NBA champion and current broadcaster Brian Scalabrine fired back at the former California star.

“Jaylen Brown wants to be the victim in all of this, and this is the way he’s doing it now. He’s using me, or his PR team, or whatever it is, to play the victim, and he’s not going to take responsibility for it. That’s fine…I just feel like he wants to say whatever he wants, and he doesn’t want to be held accountable, just like on his Twitch. He wants his legacy to remain intact, and he’s not going to take responsibility for the other stuff that he brings up. And this is just the beginning of it,” Scalabrine said.

On Wednesday night, Philadelphia rallied to defeat the Indiana Pacers. After the game, Brown pushed back against Scalabrine’s comments, calling them false allegations.

“I Never had any issues with Scal. I love Scal, but I guess he’s doing what he what he has to do. I can understand why he feels the need to do that, but I have no interest of letting any false allegations following me until my next chapter here in Philadelphia,” Brown told the media.

Brown may not want the situation to escalate, but as long as he continues to respond to the comments, the media will keep covering the drama. The events of the past week have raised questions about whether there is growing animosity between Brown, Tatum, Scalabrine, and the Celtics organization.

The 76ers are off to a 4-1 start, with Brown playing a key role in their early success. When Philadelphia and Boston eventually meet, the matchup should be even more intriguing given the recent developments. Brown could soon find himself cast as the biggest villain in Boston.
