For one fateful day, the sports world will wax and meld into one. Those feeling compelled to spend some time on the couch should heed this warning.
The North American sporting calendar is often sequestered, with leagues whose seasons start in the spring or summer giving way around this point to those who get their strength in the autumn and winter.
That is an imperfect science, though. For a few glorious days, an eclipse can happen — a day where each matchup that takes hold of one league’s calendar is swallowed up by a corresponding fixture in a different competition.
This year, the sports equinox will fall upon Monday night. Onlookers should be ready to make arrangements to follow along with the action.
Sports Equinox viewing guide 2026
Here’s an exhaustive look at the schedule for each game during Monday’s sports equinox.
MLB
| Game | Time (ET) | TV/Live stream |
| World Series Game 3: Brewers vs. Rays | 8 p.m. | Fox, fubo, DIRECTV |
The Brewers and Rays are MLB’s representative at the sports equinox, locking horns in Game 3 of the World Series. The matchup will prove decisive, with the victor moving one step closer to hoisting their first title in decades (or, in Tampa Bay’s case, ever).
The Rays will attempt to capitalize on their frightful pitching, with Freddy Peralta slated to take the bump on Monday. He’ll get quite the test in a talent-laden Brewers lineup spearheaded by William Contreras, Jackson Chourio, Brice Turang and Jake Bauers.
WNBA
| Game | Time (ET) | TV/Live stream |
| WNBA Finals Game 5: Dream vs. Valkyries | 8 p.m. | USA Network, CNBC, Peacock, fubo, DIRECTV |
The Dream and Valkyries will also meet under the lights on Monday night in a tilt that should prove eminently important to determining who gets their hands on the glint WNBA Finals trophy. Angel Reese has been the best player in the series thus far, producing glittering performances in Games 2 and 3 to push Atlanta out in front.
Gabby Williams has been tasked to play a similar role in Golden State. Things have been uneven thus far for the Valkyries star, who has been greeted with hounding defense more time that not in this series. That’s unlikely to change in Game 5, although Natalie Nakase will hope that her team can inflict enough damage upon Atlanta’s ball-handlers to create some easy opportunities for itsef.
NFL
| Game | Time (ET) | TV/Live stream |
| Cowboys vs. Eagles | 8:15 p.m. | ESPN, ESPN+, fubo, DIRECTV |
The Cowboys and Eagles will meet in the final game of the Week 7 slate. It doesn’t have quite as much luster as it did before Jalen Hurts was ruled out for the remainder of the season. Nevertheless, the contest should be consequential. The NFC East has been one of football’s thus far, with three teams tethered to sub.-500 records. Despite Dallas and Philadelphia’s torpidity, both sides know that they’re still in the hunt. That should make for entertaining enough ball, even if the stakes aren’t quite as high compared to the fixtures taking hold of the MLB and WNBA calendars.
NBA
| Game | Time (ET) | TV/Live stream |
| Wizards vs. Hornets | 7 p.m. | DAZN (Wizards), DAZN (Hornets) |
| ITimberwolves vs. Cavaliers | 7 p.m. | DAZN (Timberwolves), DAZN (Cavaliers) |
| Bulls vs. Celtics | 7:30 p.m. | — |
| Mavericks vs. Heat | 7:30 p.m. | NBA TV, fubo, DIRECTV |
| Pacers vs. Bucks | 8 p.m. | DAZN (Pacers) |
| Suns vs. Thunder | 8 p.m. | — |
| Hawks vs. Rockets | 8:30 p.m. | — |
| Grizzlies vs. Jazz | 9 p.m. | DAZN (Grizzlies) |
| Warriors vs. Nuggets | 10 p.m. | NBC Sports Network, Peacock, fubo, DIRECTV |
The WNBA isn’t the only basketball competition slated to take center stage during the sports equinox. Nine games will scrawl across Monday’s NBA schedule. Hoops fans of all types should get some enjoyment out of the matchups. A.J. Dybantsa could make his regular-season debut in Washington’s tilt with the Hornets, while the Timberwolves and Cavaliers will look to cement their status as some of their respective conference’s truest heavyweight.
The latter portions of the night will be spearheaded by duels between superstars (Stephen Curry vs. Nikola Jokic) and youngsters (Cameron Boozer vs. Daryn Peterson). Expect fireworks to erupt before all the action is concluded.
NHL
| Game | Time (ET) | TV/Live stream |
| Kings vs. Rangers | 7 p.m. | NHL Network, DAZN (Kings), DAZN (Rangers), fubo, DIRECTV |
| Maple Leafs vs. Flames | 8:30 p.m. | ESPN+ |
| Red Wings vs. Oilers | 9:30 p.m. | ESPN+ |
Lastly, we have a three-game NHL slate to munch down on during the sports equinox. Six sides play in total, including the Western Conference-leading Edmonton Oilers, anchored by magician Connor McDavid. The 29-year-old entered Friday with 31 points (eight goals, 23 assists) in 10 games — good for an average of 3.1 points per match. He’ll put his glittering scoring record to the test against the Red Wings, a side attempting to find relevancy after a dour start to the campaign.
