Bo Nix’s passing skills have drawn some criticism in recent weeks, with various analysts suggesting that his apparent penchant to settle for check downs is limiting the Broncos attack.

One thing that has never been in doubt for the former Oregon product, however, is his athleticism. Nix touted a 4.71 40-yard dash coming out of high school, per ESPN. All these years later, he finally got a chance to put it to use, racing past defenders to find the end zone from 62 yards out against the Cardinals.

Here’s a look at where Nix’s highlight-reel scamper ranks among the longest QB runs in NFL history.

Longest runs by a QB

Rank Distance Player Team Opponent Year
1 93 yards Terrelle Pryor Raiders Steelers 2013
2 90 yards Colin Kaepernick 49ers Chargers 2014
3 87 yards Marcus Mariota Titans Jaguars 2015
T-4 80 yards Daniel Jones Giants Eagles 2020
T-4 80 yards Kordell Stewart Steelers Panthers 1996
6 79 yards Lamar Jackson Ravens Dolphins 2022
T-7 76 yards Steve Bono Chiefs Cardinals 1995
T-7 76 yards Robert Griffin III Commanders Vikings 2012
9 72 yards Cam Newton Panthers Falcons 2012
10 70 yards Alex Smith Chiefs Jets 2017

Nix’s  scramble was memorable, a moment of athleticism — and lackluster defending — that will live long in the twinkle of Broncos supporters’ eyes. It wasn’t quite historic, though; numerous hurlers have traipsed down longer distances than Nix did on Sunday afternoon.

That’s not to say his dalliance with the end zone wasn’t notable. It represents the longest QB run since Justin Fields found pay dirt with a 67-yard scamper in the Bears‘ 31-30 loss to the Lions in 2022.

Longest TD runs this season

Rank Distance Player Team Opponent
1 76 yards Kenneth Walker Chiefs Raiders
2 72 yards Bucky Irving Buccaneers Cowboys
3 62 yards Bo Nix Broncos Cardinals
4 61 yards Kyle Monangai Bears Panthers
5 60 yards Kenneth Walker Chiefs Broncos

Nix’s highlight-reel play does represent one of the lengthiest runs of the still-nascent 2026 season. His 62-yard score sits in third among the NFL’s marathon runs, bested only by Kenneth Walker’s 76-yard waltz vs. the Raiders and Bucky Irving’s 72-yard surge against the Cowboys.

Like Irving and Walker, Nix’s highlight was marked by his velocity. Per Next Gen stats, Nix reached a top speed of 19.90 mph en route to the end zone. No Arizona defender got within four yards of him during his race to the goal-line, a testament both to his impressive speed and the Cardinals’ porous defensive setup on the play.

Nix’s scramble is the longest touchdown on a QB scramble since 2016, per Next Gen Stats.
