ST. PETERSBURG, FLA. — The World Series shifts to Tampa Bay, and the pressure is on the Rays, who are looking to bounce back after falling into an 0-2 hole against the Brewers.

The Rays know that history is not on their side, as no team in the World Series has rallied from an 0-2 deficit since the New York Yankees in 1996, when they came back to beat the Braves.

As Tampa Bay looks to get back in the series, they’ll hand the ball to Game 3 starter Freddy Peralta, who spent the first eight years of his career with the Brewers. According to Elias, Peralta’s 162 starts for Milwaukee are the third-most by a pitcher before starting against that team in the World Series.

The Brewers, meanwhile, look to stay red hot in the postseason. They’ve won seven straight games, which includes their NLCS sweep of the Dodgers. If the Brewers sweep the Rays, they’d become the first club since the LCS became a best-of-seven in 1985 to sweep the LCS and World Series.

Robert Gasser starts for the Brewers in Game 3. Before this season, he had just seven total appearances in the majors, but he has a 1.00 ERA this postseason. He’ll face what will be an electric crowd in St. Petersburg — a crowd that likely will feature a large contingent of Brewers fans, too.

World Series Game 3: Brewers vs. Rays live updates

All times ET.

First inning

8:19 p.m.: Peralta survives a shaky top of the first and escapes the inning without giving up a run. After allowing a leadoff base hit to Jackson Chourio, and giving up another base hit to Christian Yelich, he escapes the jam by getting Brice Turang on a groundout to shortstop.

8:10 p.m.: We’re under way! Peralta throws a ball high and tight for Ball 1.

Pregame

8 p.m.: Former Rays star “Big Game” James Shields throws out the ceremonial first pitch — and almost hits the mascot! Rays fans are hoping that’s not an omen for Game 3.

7:30 p.m.: We’re a little more than 30 minutes away from the opening pitch. Here’s a fun fact about the Brewers, provided by MLB: Gasser takes the mound following the Game 2 start by fellow rookie Logan Henderson. It’s only the fifth time in World Series history that rookies have made back-to-back starts. The last time it happened was 2015, when Noah Syndergaard and Steven Matz did it for the Mets.

7 p.m.: The starting lineups are in. While the Brewers’ order looks familiar from top to bottom, there are some changes for the Rays.

At first base, Ryan Vilade replaces Jonathan Aranda, who had a key error in Game 2. In other changes, Nick Fortes starts at catcher, and Ben Williamson starts at second.
