Aston Villa have found some form as they welcome Premier League table-toppers Manchester City to Villa Park.

Unai Emery’s side eased past Viking with a 3-1 victory in the league phase of the Champions League in midweek to make it three wins from three in that competition.

The Villans are now unbeaten in six matches across all competitions since continuing their four-match winless start to the Premier League campaign with a 2-1 defeat at home to Nottingham Forest.

Manchester City made it seven wins from seven in the league, with Enzo Maresca becoming the first manager to win his first seven Premier League games at a new club, as they defeated plucky promoted Ipswich Town 3-2 at the Etihad Stadium last week.

Maresca’s side also earned an emphatic win in the Champions League in midweek to bounce back from a 4-2 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in that competition as they hammered AEK Athens 5-1 in Manchester.

Aston Villa vs. Man City prediction

We think this will be an entertaining one and one that ends City’s winning start.

Emery always tends to find a solution to a problem, and Villa had a few of those at the start of this season, again, after an overhaul of the squad and their starting 11 in the summer transfer window.

City will continue to have the confidence to get at Villa, but they haven’t been the tightest in the last few weeks themselves, conceding three at home to Sunderland before the international break as well as four against PSG and a further two at home to Ipswich.

Score Prediction: Aston Villa 2, Man City 2 (+1300 at Fanatics)

Aston Villa vs. Man City best bets

We’ve picked four betting angles for Aston Villa vs. Man City.

We do expect both teams to score to be a fairly safe bet for this one, with Villa pushing at home and City having their abundance of in-form talent in the final third themselves.

Aston Villa 12 7
Manchester City 12 6

It is quite often the case that an Emery-coached side will try to get at one of the so-called ‘big’ teams in England or Europe and that should again be the case here, leading to quite a fun watch for the neutral.

Players can take time to be trusted by Emery, and one man that barely featured after joining in January but is now thriving is Alysson. The Brazilian winger was superb against Viking and should be a major threat to City’s left-hand side here, too.

Ever combative in the middle of the park, Argentina international Enzo Fernandez may well be under pressure from Villa’s press here, and the former Chelsea man to commit a couple of fouls is good value.

Phil Foden scored his first goal in 10 months against Ipswich last week before a hat-trick against AEK in midweek, and his confidence is surely growing. Even if he comes off the bench, backing him to have a shot on target feels a good bet.
