The Dallas Cowboys are America’s Team, and with that label comes pressure to deliver each and every game. But it’s been a rough stretch for the Cowboys for a few years now, and they were hoping this would be the year for change.

So far, the Cowboys are 2-4 and just fell to the Green Bay Packers in Week 6. This is head coach Brian Schottenheimer’s second season with the team, so it’s early to talk about job security, but that’s what happens in the NFL. People talk. Patience isn’t really a virtue in the NFL. So, yes, there’s already talk about the future of the Cowboys and where Schottenheimer fits if things go wrong.

Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones knows that things have to get better for the team. He recently opened up about a conversation he had with the head coach about the direction of the Cowboys.

Jerry Jones discusses Brian Schottenheimer’s plans to turn the Cowboys around

During an appearance on Wednesday, Jones met with reporters at the league meetings in New York City. He talked about recent conversations he’s had with Schottenheimer. While he didn’t say that he put hot coals under the coach’s feet, he did talk about direction.

“He explained as far as what we were doing and what we need to do better,” Jones said, according to Jon Machota and Mike Jones of The Athletic. “He was just as tactical, and there was no, ‘We’ve got to have more effort. We’ve got to have more depth.'”

He added, “Our conversations are more about just really the structure, the schemes, the calls, things like that.”

Next up, the Cowboys will take on the Jalen Hurts-less Philadelphia Eagles on “Monday Night Football.”
