It may not count on their resumes, but any time Kansas and Louisville get together, college basketball fans will be watching.

The 17th-ranked Jayhawks host the Cardinals in a nationally televised exhibition game Wednesday. It’s the second preseason tune-up for KU after a comfortable win over Pittsburg State last week, while No. 11 Louisville will be taking the floor against an opponent for the first time this season.

Bill Self’s team remains just as fascinating entering this season as it was during the brief Darryn Peterson era a year ago. This group boasts another five-star freshman expected to top NBA Draft lists in Tyran Stokes, who scored 14 against Pittsburg State. The Jayhawks’ top scorer in that one was former Louisville (and Illinois, and USC) wing Tre White, who tallied 16 points and eight rebounds in just 18 minutes. He and fellow returnee Melvin Council Jr. will be expected to lead the way for KU this season.

The game will be a homecoming for Louisville’s Flory Bidunga, who spent the last two years in Lawrence before becoming Pat Kelsey’s key offseason pickup for the Cardinals. He’s hardly the only newcomer, though, as 13 players left and 11 entered the revolving door at the KFC Yum! Center over the summer.

Both teams have plenty to figure out before the games start to count. Here’s all you need to know to watch.
