The WNBA is down to just two teams still alive in the hunt to declare themselves 2026 Champions.
The Atlanta Dream are led by the tandem of Angel Reese, Rhyne Howard and Jordin Canada. The team has emerged victorious in nine straight games and has yet to lose a postseason game. Allisha Gray is also imminently returning after suffering a hand injury against the New York Liberty in the semifinals.
Standing in their way, however, is Gabby Williams and her Golden State Valkyries. Many WNBA fans didn’t take Golden State seriously, brushing them away as nothing but a team that had a great regular season. They’ve risen to the occasion against both the Dallas Wings and 2026 MVP A’ja Wilson and her Las Vegas Aces in the semifinals. Now, they’ll hold home-court advantage in their first-ever WNBA Finals appearance.

When is WNBA Finals Game 1
Game 1 of the WNBA Finals will take place on Saturday, October 17. Golden State will host the Dream at Chase Center in San Francisco at 3:30 p.m. ET.
Dream vs. Valkyries Game 1 value plays
Atlanta has been on a tear during their WNBA postseason run. They haven’t lost a game since August 28, which is astonishing. It’s safe to say the victor of 10 straight games has been cruising as of late. Despite this, they are underdogs on the road against the Valkyries. The Dream lost every regular-season matchup against Golden State in the regular season, but that previous history doesn’t always translate into the playoffs. Atlanta just has more of a ceiling in this matchup between Reese, Rhyne Howard, and Jordin Canada, along with Allisha Gray when she returns from a hand injury.
One of the main reasons why the Valkyries are still kicking is because of their defense. They led the league with the fewest opponent PPG (751.1 PPG), field goal percentage (41.4%), and 3-point field goal percentage (32.6%) in the regular season. That being said, only two of their six postseason games have gone under this 154-point threshold. None of their games against Las Vegas came within nine points of this line, and Atlanta has hit this in every game in the playoffs, in addition to nine of their last 10 games. Their offense has been clicking across the board, and they don’t seem to mind playing on the road.
Dream vs. Valkyries Game 1 player props
Williams is coming off her best season to date during his first campaign with the Valkyries. She averaged a team-leading 14.4 PPG, and she’s exceeded that mark in every game during the postseason. Williams has also found success against this 18.5-point line in four of her team’s six playoff games. She’s hit this over in two of the three regular season matchups against Atlanta, and her recent form is an added boost.
Howard is mainly known to be a pesky scorer who averaged the most steals in the WNBA this season. Against Golden State this season, however, she’s managed to consistently rebound more than her average. In each of her three previous games against the Valkyries, Howard has tallied five boards. She’s also found her way to at least seven rebounds in Games 1 and 2 in the semifinals versus New York.
Best Angel Reese props on ProphetX
Reese’s rebounding numbers have taken a slight downtick, and she hasn’t hit a double-digit number of boards since Game 1 in the first round. Her scoring is what’s benefited most, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. The league’s leading rebounder tallied 13, 12, and 12 boards in her three regular-season matchups against Golden State. Expect her to return to this form with the same matchups she’s found success with in the past.
As mentioned before, Reese has been on a scoring tear as of late. She’s averaging 18 PPG in the postseason, which is a great aid to her presence on the boards. She’s hit over 24.5 P+R in two straight matchups, almost with her points alone. Before that, she walked off the court with a 13-point, 12-rebound double-double. She’s hit this over in her last two games against Golden State as well.
Who will win the WNBA Finals?
At the moment, Golden State and Atlanta are nearly deadlocked in terms of probability to win the 2026 WNBA Finals. Users can find this by going to the “WNBA Futures” tab near the bottom of ProphetX’s side navigation bar, separate from the standard “WNBA” section.
Here’s what the current percentages are on ProphetX.
| Team | % on “Yes” |
| Golden State Valkyries | 54.95% |
| Atlanta Dream | 52.61% |
