After multiple years of playing for the Chicago Bulls, Coby White was traded to the Charlotte Hornets. As soon as he got traded, White felt like he jumped back a few years because he grew up in North Carolina and he was back home.

He is happy where he is playing because not only is he home close to family, but he is loving his time playing for the Hornets. In fact, he made sure to commit because he signed a three-year deal worth $74 million with the Hornets.

Coby White is happy at home with the Hornets

White has become the Hornets’ new franchise point guard after the LaMelo Ball trade. It seems that he is embracing his new role not only because it’s a huge opportunity, but it is also a chance for him to stand out for his hometown team.

The current Hornets roster is quite young, so while White is not the oldest player, he is a proven veteran when compared to his younger teammates. He is fully embracing this role as both a veteran-ish player and North Carolina native.

During the 21 games he played for the Hornets in the 2025-26 season, he averaged 15.6 points, three rebounds, and three assists per game coming off the bench. Of course, those numbers are poised to go up now that he is a starting point guard for his team.

“I’m right where I’m supposed to be, I’m right where I belong… Being back in NC, it definitely sparked the light inside me. I wouldn’t say that I was losing my love and joy for the game, but I was trying to search for it. And when I got here, that lit a spark,” White said in the Hornets’ latest YouTube video that followed the Hornets’ point guard.

White is now cemented as one of the Hornets’ most important figures. Of course, Brandon Miller and Kon Knueppel are crucial players for the Hornets, but someone like White is important for on-court production, off-court activities, and team culture.
