Twelve years have passed since the Los Angeles Angels last made the postseason.

The last time the Angels finished a season with a winning record was in 2015, when the AL West club went 85-77 but fell short of the playoffs.

With new ownership taking over, perhaps it’s time the Angels began to get out of this lengthy and failed rebuild.

One way to do it is by targeting a few of the top free agents available. Bleacher Report’s Zachary D. Rymer sees the Angels as a top-five landing spot for the best starting pitcher in the Majors.

“Even if José Soriano is gone, Reid Detmers and Walbert Ureña are still around. If they find themselves pitching behind [Tarik] Skubal with top prospect Tyler Bremner waiting in the wings, suddenly the future doesn’t look so bad,” Rymer wrote.

Skubal, Detmers, and Urena would be a very strong top three in the rotation, but the Angels would have to address their offense too.

Still, would Skubal consider the Angels, a team with little to no success in over a decade?

“It is nonetheless interesting that Skubal himself expects [Stan] Kroenke to turn the Angels into a coveted destination for free agents. Provided Skubal is willing to wait until the sale of the franchise is final, perhaps he’ll be willing to put… er, accept money where his mouth is,” Rymer added.

The idea of Skubal turning down the Los Angeles Dodgers to go suit up for the Angels is both fun and somewhat comical.

Most likely, the Halos would have to offer an eye-popping no one else decides to match.
