Tyreek Hill remains the biggest free agent available five weeks into the NFL season, but in order to sign with a team, he first needed to get through his assault and battery civil trial against his estranged wife.
On Tuesday, Hill was found liable on just two counts of battery against Lakeeta Vaccaro, while he was not found liable for eight counts. Hill appears satisfied with the mixed verdict, as his agent Christi Bright said Hill was “very pleased” with the way the trial went.
Now, Hill turns his focus back to a potential NFL return, as there are a bunch of teams that need wide receiver help. In order to move forward, though, the NFL needs to close its review of Hill’s case, which could impact where and when Hill signs.
Here’s what’s next for Hill’s possible return to the NFL.

What Tyreek Hill’s mixed verdict means
Hill was found liable for just two of 10 counts of battery in his civil suit against his estranged wife, which could clear the way for him to return to the NFL. After the trial, Hill’s agent Drew Rosenhaus explained what’s next for the veteran wide receiver as he aims to sign with an NFL team.
“I think it’s very fluid,” Rosenhaus said. “I think a deal could happen anytime. We are looking for the right situation, the right contract, the right team, the right fit.”

Hill is still subject to punishment from the NFL for this case, as now that the case is over, the league will conclude its investigation. Any team that signs Hill will want to have an idea of how long the wide receiver will be suspended if the league decides to punish Hill moving forward.
While Hill has dealt with a few off-the-field issues since he entered the league in 2016, the NFL has never suspended him for any of his conduct. Therefore, if the league does decide to suspend Hill, it would be his first violation under the personal conduct policy.
Of course, Hill is also coming off a major knee injury he suffered last year, but Rosenhaus has maintained that Hill is now healthy.
“Tyreek’s feeling really good health-wise,” he said.
