The reigning World Series champions aren’t totally on the brink just yet, but the Brewers have the Dodgers playing for their season as the NLCS shifts to Los Angeles.
The Brewers took the first two games of the series the only way they know how: manufacturing runs and slamming the door with a stellar bullpen.
Milwaukee’s bullpen is no stranger to success, but its performance in Game 2 took dominance to a new level as the Brewers closed out a come-from-behind 7-4 victory.
Here’s a look at how the Brewers’ arsenal of relievers made MLB history on Monday night.

Brewers bullpen makes MLB history
The Brewers out-hit the Dodgers 12-3 on Monday, but it was a 4-3 game in favor of the Dodgers halfway through the fifth inning. An electrifying performance by the bullpen is a major reason why Milwaukee was able to climb back in front for a third and final time.
The unit tossed five perfect innings in the win, facing 15 batters and getting 15 outs. That made the Brewers the first team in playoff history to get five perfect innings out of a bullpen.
The bullpen did surrender a run, as an inherited runner scored on a sacrifice fly off Dustin May in the fifth inning, but May got three outs without allowing a baserunner of his own while JoJo Romero, Abner Uribe and Aaron Ashby slammed the door with perfect outings of their own.
Aaron Ashby completes a magnificent performance by the Brewers bullpen in Game 2! https://t.co/YqeWq8oqtj

Here’s the breakdown:
- Dustin May: 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 1 K
- JoJo Romero: 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 2 K
- Abner Uribe: 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 2 K
- Aaron Ashby: 1.2 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 2 K
May and Romero each covered an inning, while Uribe and Ashby combined to get the final nine outs against the Dodgers. Not only did Pat Murphy get perfection out of his bullpen, but he was able to preserve closer Trevor Megill, who will enter Game 3 off back-to-back rest days.
